Security

KeytagsSecurity is a very important aspect of the Community Teen Center. Our first and most crucial step in maintaining a high level of security, was to bring in the Alton Chief of Police, David Hayes, as a Member of the Board of Directors. He is dedicated to being highly involved in the center in an ongoing basis. Other Board of Director Members include Principals Barb Gillian and Michael Slaughter who have years of experience working with the youth. Other Advisory members who are involved in helping solve potential security issues include more educators, county juvenile officers, youth group administrators, and a security systems co. business owner who has spent countless hours installing an exceptional, high-tech 32 camera system throughout the building.

32 Camera Surveillance System donated by High Tech Security SystemsA Code of Conduct has already been outlined and is quite comprehensive. All students and parents must sign the Code of Conduct and abide by the Center Rules in order to be permitted on the premisis and participate in Center Activities. There will be a no tolerance policy for violating the Center Rules. Behavioral issues will not interfere with the fun of others.

Additionally, the safety of the Teens is very important. At least one Security Officer will be on site, along with Volunteer Supervisors. All Volunteers will go through a thorough background check. No other adults from the street will be allowed in the center. Procedures will be in place to make sure that Teens are safe as they enter and leave the Center. A 6 passenger golf cart has been purchased to help transport/escort teens to our dedicated parking lot at 4th and Belle.

Security/Member Management System donated by Coral Springs SoftwareAll Teens participating in the center will register and must check in and out with their 'key-chain' card, creating another level of security.

Questions and feedback regarding security can be directed to [email protected].

The current version of the Code of Conduct can be downloaded for your review. It may be revised as we continue toward Opening Day.
